My Home City
Haldwani is where I live, so it felt natural to begin the journey from the city I know personally.
Kumaun Taxi started with a simple idea: if technology can make so many things easier, why not use it to make local taxi services more accessible too?
What started as an idea from Haldwani is an attempt to build something useful, independent and meaningful for travellers and local taxi owners.
The idea behind Kumaun Taxi came from something I had seen around me. Some of my friends own taxi vehicles and work as drivers. They have their own cars, experience and the ability to provide a good service, but there are times when they simply do not get enough work.
Sometimes they have to wait for days for the next booking. At other times, they may have a vehicle ready but no customer looking for a ride. I kept thinking about this problem and one day a simple thought came to me: Why not try taking this work online?
We live in a time where technology has changed the way people discover restaurants, book hotels, buy products and communicate with businesses. So I thought — if almost everything can be brought online, then why not taxi services as well?
Of course, online taxi services have existed for a long time and there are already large platforms doing this at a much bigger scale. I know that. But I still wanted to try creating something of my own — something with a local focus and a different approach.
I honestly don't know exactly how far this idea will go. Maybe it will become something big, maybe the journey will be difficult. But I believe that sometimes you simply have to start. What do you lose by trying?
I have always enjoyed creating things. Whether it is a website, an idea or something completely new, the process of building something from nothing gives me a different kind of happiness.
I don't want to remain just a user of technology. I have always wanted to become a creator — someone who thinks of an idea, builds it and tries to take it somewhere meaningful.
Kumaun Taxi is one of those attempts. It is not just about creating a taxi website. It is about experimenting, learning, creating and seeing how far an idea from a small beginning can go.
Haldwani is where I live, so it felt natural to begin the journey from the city I know personally.
Haldwani connects travellers with many beautiful destinations across the Kumaun region.
Starting locally gives Kumaun Taxi an opportunity to understand the needs of local taxi owners and travellers.
I believe a meaningful project does not have to start everywhere at once. It can start from one city and grow step by step.
My goal in life is to create something of my own — something unique that can grow beyond a small idea. I want to keep learning, building and experimenting with technology and eventually turn my ideas into something much bigger: a company that creates real value and continues to grow over time.
I enjoy creating things rather than simply being a consumer of technology.
I believe an imperfect start is better than never trying an idea.
Every project is an opportunity to learn something new and improve.
